Featuring a distinctive wide-angle optical system, these Carl Zeiss Jena 8x40 "Delactis" binoculars, serial number 1281118, are constructed from heavy brass and date to circa 1925. The body measure 14.6 cm H x 17.8 cm W (5.75" H x 7.0" W), with a weight of 1042 g (2 lbs 4.8 oz). The black finish shows authentic brassing along high points, while the textured surface remains intact. The optics provide a clear view with only mild internal haze typical for the era. Mechanically, the hinge and rightdiopter are perfectly smooth, but the left diopter rotates freely and requires internal attention. Included is the original Zeiss-branded tan leather case, measuring 17.8 cm H x 20.3 cm W (7.0" H x 8.0" W), complete with its matching leather shoulderstrap and a crisp embossed Zeiss logo. The case and binoculars both display consistent preservation from the period, making this set of notable significance for collectors. PM/OT
