WWII German E. Leitz Wetzlar 10x50 Dienstglas binocular, recognized as a premier example of wartime optical engineering by the makers of the Leica camera. Marked with "G" to indicate low-temperature lubricant and constructed from lightweight alloys,this Mdl code model was designed for long-range observation on the Eastern Front. The binoculars measure 16.5 cm H x 19.1 cm W (6.5" H x 7.5" W) and weigh 996 g (2 lb 3.1 oz). Serial number is 2487876. Optics provide clear, unobstructed views with aminor 1/8" chip on the right objective lens that does not affect image quality. Mechanics are fully functional. Body retains original textured finish with edge silvering and some leatherette loss. Includes the original black leather E. Leitz Wetzlarcase, 20.3 cm H x 20.3 cm W (8.0" H x 8.0" W), which remains supple and fully functional. PM/OT
