ca. dated 1804; Typical bench-mount flax working comb/hatchel with uncommon mark in rock/chestnut oak plank with metal sheet casing and driven handwrought nails. The hatchel has drilled mounting eyes with diamond pattern plating, the side of sheet metal pin-punch decorated and marked for York County, Pa. (with misspellings); 14 1/2" x 3 1/8" x 4"; Condition: "as found", with original patina. Some rust and minor deterioration to sheet metal.
