A Denver Mint issue from the heart of the Peace Dollar era, this 1926-D Silver Peace Dollar carries the distinctive "D" mintmark beneath the eagle on the reverse. Struck in 90% silver, it contains approximately .7734 troy ounces of pure silver. Anthony de Francisci's celebrated design features Liberty wearing a radiant crown on the obverse, while the reverse depicts a bald eagle perched on a rock with an olive branch. The series was introduced in 1921 to commemorate peace following World War I. The 1926-D is an appealing date-and-mintmark combination for collectors assembling a Peace Dollar set and for those looking to add classic American silver to their collection.
