Bearing the distinctive "S" mintmark of the San Francisco Mint, this 1940-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar represents a classic piece of mid-20th-century American silver coinage. Composed of 90% silver, it contains approximately .3617 troy ounces of pure silver. The Walking Liberty design was created by renowned sculptor Adolph A. Weinman and is widely regarded as one of America's most beautiful coin designs. Liberty is shown walking toward the sunrise on the obverse, while the reverse features an eagle perched on a rocky outcrop. Minted from 1916 through 1947, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar remains highly sought after by collectors for its historic significance, iconic artwork, and silver content.
