Stepping back into the pre-war era of American coinage, this 1940 Walking Liberty Half Dollar showcases one of the most admired designs in U.S. numismatic history. Struck in 90% silver, the coin contains approximately .3617 troy ounces of pure silver. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar features Liberty striding toward the sunrise on the obverse, draped in the American flag and carrying branches of laurel and oak. The reverse depicts a majestic eagle perched on a rocky outcrop. The series was minted from 1916 through 1947 and remains a favorite among collectors for its beautiful artwork and substantial silver content.
