Marking the debut year of one of America's most recognizable modern dollar coins, this 1971-S Eisenhower Dollar was struck at the San Francisco Mint. The coin features President Dwight D. Eisenhower on the obverse and an adaptation of the Apollo 11 mission insignia on the reverse. The Eisenhower Dollar was introduced in 1971 to honor President Eisenhower and commemorate the successful Apollo 11 moon landing. San Francisco produced proof and uncirculated versions of the series, making the 1971-S an important first-year issue for collectors.
