This 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar is the first year of the Kennedy Half Dollar series and was issued shortly after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 1963. The obverse features Kennedy’s portrait, while the reverse depicts the Presidential Seal with an eagle surrounded by stars. The 1964 issue is especially significant to collectors because it was the only year the Kennedy Half Dollar was struck in 90% silver for general circulation. The coin quickly became a lasting tribute to President Kennedy and an important piece of modern American history. 90% Silver • .3617 Troy Oz Silver • 1964 • Kennedy Half Dollar
