This 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar is the first year of the Kennedy Half Dollar series and was introduced shortly after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. The obverse features Kennedy’s portrait, while the reverse displays the Presidential Seal with an eagle surrounded by stars. The 1964 issue is especially sought after because it was the only year the Kennedy Half Dollar was produced for circulation in 90% silver.
