Traditional Nandi Puja Bell / Hindu Ghanti

Traditional Indian Nandi puja bell, or ghanti, measuring approximately 6.5" tall. The ornate handle is topped by a detailed seated figure of Nandi, the sacred bull and vahana (vehicle) of Lord Shiva. Nandi-handled bells are traditionally associated with Shaivite Hindu worship and are used during puja, aarti, prayer and temple ceremonies. The bell features an elaborate turned and patterned handle with rope-like and architectural detailing, a substantial flared bell body with concentric bands, and an aged warm metal patina. Constructed of brass or bronze, with exact metal composition untested. Traditionally, the ringing of a ghanti is believed to help focus the mind, dispel negative energies and create an auspicious atmosphere for worship. Measures approximately 6.5" tall. Shows age-related patina and surface wear. Please note that the bell does have a chip/damaged area. See photos for details.
