1997 Blake Valleau ABA Washington Convention Bell

Limited-edition 1997 American Bell Association Convention bronze bell by Blake Valleau, signed by the artist and individually numbered #71 of 300. Created for the 1997 ABA Convention in Vienna, Virginia/Washington, D.C., this collectible bell was produced in bronze using the lost-wax process. The American Bell Association identifies Blake Valleau as the artist of the 1997 convention bell and describes the design as featuring Washington-area scenes. The design incorporates numerous regional and patriotic details. The tall handle is modeled after the Washington Monument, while the bell features imagery representing Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland, including the U.S. Capitol and Fort McHenry-inspired details. Most unusually, the U.S. Capitol dome forms the clapper inside the bell. An ABA auction catalog describes this model as approximately 5.5" tall and confirms the Washington Monument handle, Capitol dome clapper, lost-wax construction, and limited numbered production. A particularly desirable American Bell Association convention collectible due to its signed and numbered limited-edition production, detailed bronze casting and extensive Washington-area symbolism.
