Vintage brass and leather-wrapped spotting scope manufactured by Ross of London and retailed by G. Falconer & Co. Ltd., Hong Kong. The brass body is engraved "E. Sanderson 'Sandy' 7-8-40 USS Indianapolis," providing an interesting association with the U.S. Navy heavy cruiser USS Indianapolis (CA-35) prior to America's entry into World War II. The scope features an extending brass body, large objective lens, removable brass lens cap, and dark leather covering with decorative tooling. The inscription indicates ownership or presentation to an E. Sanderson, known as "Sandy," and is dated July 8, 1940. Shows age-related wear, scratches, oxidation and patina to the brass
