This German socket head doll is identified by the incised markings on the reverse of the neck for C.M. Bergmann Waltershausen and the model year 1916. The doll features a bisque head with brown glass sleep eyes on a functional weighted mechanism, painted upper and lower lashes, and multi-stroke feathered eyebrows. The head is mounted on a fully jointed wood and composition body. The doll is presented with a blonde wig styled in pigtails and wears a full multi-piece ensemble including a blue cotton long-sleeved dress with white trim, a white cotton apron featuring blue cross-stitch embroidery, a white cotton chemise, matching lace-trimmed bloomers, white knit socks, and white tie-up shoes with brown soles. Height: 24 inches. The bisque head is in good condition without visible damage. The composition and wood body shows expected surface wear and minor finish loss at the joints consistent with age. There is a loss to the pinky finger on the left hand.
