Impressive early 20th-century American reverse-painted glass table lamp featuring a broad hemispherical dome shade decorated on the interior with a continuous pastoral landscape populated by grazing cattle beneath mature trees, distant rolling hills, and a softly illuminated pink and blue-gray sky. The exterior of the shade has a subdued frosted appearance when unlit, while the interior reveals considerably richer painterly detail, including carefully rendered black-and-white cattle, reflections along the water’s edge, layered foliage, and atmospheric recession toward the distant mountains. The shade is surmounted by a patinated metal cap and acorn-form finial and rests upon a substantial Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts style metal base with a tall fluted standard rising from a sculptural quadriform foot embellished with repeating geometric relief motifs and is signed "Miller" on base. The lamp is fitted with multiple pull-chain sockets and retains an older electrical cord. Comparable signed Handel scenic lamps can command substantially higher values, while unsigned and lesser-attributed period examples trade more modestly. The shade exhibits scattered surface rubbing, scratches, and areas of wear visible against the frosted exterior, with additional age-related wear and oxidation to the metal base; electrical components have not been tested and should be professionally inspected prior to use. Measures 23"H overall and shade is 8"H x 18"W in diameter.
