French Empire-style architectural mantel clock, likely 19th century, constructed with a warm golden Siena marble front panel enclosed within an arched brass case richly ornamented with repeating classical egg-and-dart, leaf-tip, and beaded borders. The white enamel dial is painted with bold black Roman numerals and delicate ornamental minute markings, fitted with pierced dark metal hands and a winding aperture above VI. Below the dial is a finely modeled brass relief depicting a bearded classical or pastoral male figure carrying a child, rendered with detailed drapery and mounted against the richly veined marble panel. The clock rises on a stepped brass plinth over a black base, giving the case a substantial architectural presence characteristic of French Empire and later Empire-revival clock design. The rear reveals the circular mechanical movement and pendulum assembly; the backplate bears indistinct stamped numerals, including what appears to be “3798 44”. Comparable early 19th-century French clocks combine Siena marble, brassmounts, architectural cases, enamel or metal Roman-numeral dials, and figural decoration. Condition appears generally good for age with surface oxidation and tarnishing to the metalwork, scattered staining and discoloration to the marble, age-related wear and grime, minor surface abrasions, and wear to the dial and case consistent with use; missing glass in door, not working/needs repair and/or servicing. Measures 13.5"H x 8.5"W x 5.5"D.
