A stylish McGuire Furniture Company side chair, bearing the original brass plaque marked “McGuire San Francisco,” constructed with the company’s characteristic dark-finished frame wrapped and woven in broad leather lacing. The chair features a tall, gently curved open lattice back above a deep upholstered seat cushion covered in a pale gray-beige textured fabric, with the woven leather continuing around the seat rail and frame to create the sculptural, organic-modern appearance for which McGuire became known. The substantial seat cushion gives this example the proportions of a comfortable occasional, dining, or lounge-style side chair while preserving a light architectural silhouette through the open woven back. Condition is good overall with age-appropriate wear, including scattered rubbing, abrasions, and finish variation to the dark woven leather and frame, along with minor surface wear and light discoloration to the upholstery; the woven elements appear substantially intact in the photographs, and the original McGuire San Francisco maker’s plaque remains present beneath the seat. Measures 29"H x 28"W x 22"D and seat height 20"tall.
