An ornate antique cast metal pedestal side table or plant stand, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, surmounted by a circular pale green-white onyx top displaying attractive translucent banding and a dramatic natural rust-colored vein across the surface. The stone is set within a substantial cast metal gallery with repeating bead-and-leaf ornament and a softly scalloped outer edge, raised on an exceptionally decorative turned and textured standard incorporating classical female-mask ornament framed within open scrolling elements. The slender column continues through ring-turned and stippled sections to an elaborate architectural base formed with radiating petal-like supports, pierced arches, beaded borders, and scrolling foliate ornament, giving the table a richly modeled Victorian or Continental Revival appearance. The contrast between the luminous polished onyx and the dark aged metal creates considerable decorative impact, making the piece particularly suitable as a lamp table, plant stand, or accent pedestal. Condition is good overall for age with expected oxidation, darkening, rubbing, and finish variation to the metal, scattered scratches and surface wear to the onyx, and minor age-related marks throughout; the prominent brown line running across the top appears to follow natural veining within the stone rather than being solely a surface stain, though the top should be personally inspected for any associated hairline separation or prior repair. Comparable onyx and metal pedestal stands continue to perform well at auction, with recent examples ranging from the low hundreds into the upper hundreds depending on scale, quality, and condition.
