An early 20th-century Handel table lamp base of substantial patinated metal construction, featuring a gracefully modeled baluster-form standard rising from a broad weighted circular base to a two-light socket cluster with individual beaded pull chains. The upper assembly retains a large ventilated shade cap surmounted by a turned finial and was designed to support one of Handel’s characteristic art-glass or reverse-painted shades. Each socket retains an early black composition shell marked for 250 watts / 250 volts and “Made in U.S.A.,” while the dark bronze-toned surface displays an attractive aged patina consistent with period Handel lighting. Founded in Meriden, Connecticut, Handel became particularly celebrated during the early 20th century for richly decorated table lamps combining substantial metal bases with reverse-painted and art-glass shades, and the present base reflects the company’s characteristic emphasis on sculptural form and substantial construction. Condition is fair to good for age with scattered oxidation, rubbing, scratches, finish variation, and general surface wear throughout; the original shade is absent, leaving the shade support and finial exposed, while the dual sockets and pull chains remain present. Electrical components and cord appear older and should be professionally inspected or rewired prior to use. Measures 21.5"H x 7'W
