A decorative pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain ginger jars, each of rounded baluster form with a domed fitted cover surmounted by a ribbed bud-form finial. The bodies are densely hand-decorated in underglaze cobalt with continuous narrative scenes of traditionally robed scholars, attendants, courtly women, immortals, musicians, and mythical figures amid pine trees, flowering plants, rockwork, distant mountains, clouds, and cranes in flight. Alternating floral and vertical-panel borders encircle the lower bodies, while scrolling bands frame the shoulders and covers, creating a richly detailed composition in varied shades of blue against the warm white porcelain ground. Each underside bears an apocryphal six-character Qianlong seal mark, a decorative mark frequently found on later Chinese porcelain rather than an indication of 18th-century manufacture. The jars display scattered surface scuffs, scratches, light wear, and minor imperfections consistent with decorative use. Measures 12" H x 8.75" Daimeter each.
