An atmospheric woodland landscape by the British artist Henry Percy Huggill (British 1886-1957), executed in watercolour and charcoal on paper. The composition depicts gnarled, leafless trees shrouded in a thick, pervasive mist, rendered in a muted tonalist palette of greys, soft greens, and earthy browns. The work is signed H. Percy Huggill in the lower-left corner. The piece is presented behind glass with a wide, textured gilt mount and is housed in a period gilt-wood and composition frame with decorative bead-and-reel moulding. Condition: The watercolour shows light toning to the paper consistent with age and a few minor scattered spots of foxing. The period frame exhibits significant wear, including prominent cracking to the gesso and scattered losses to the gilding along the edges and corners. The verso is sealed with a heavily creased and torn brown paper backing.
