E. Gooderham, Oil on Canvas Board

An oil painting on canvas board depicting a tranquil rural landscape with two rustic cottages nestled among mature trees. The composition is centred around a large deciduous tree, with a muddy, reflective track in the foreground leading the eye towards a distant horizon under a pale pink and yellow sky. The work is executed in a naturalistic style with broad brushwork and areas of impasto, particularly in the foliage and foreground track. Signed E. Gooderham in the lower left corner. Housed in a wide, off-white wooden frame featuring a decorative incised swirl pattern. The reverse is covered in brown backing paper and bears handwritten inscriptions 5L and - 21x17. Dimensions: H approx. 49.5 cm x W approx. 59.7 cm. Condition: The paint surface appears stable with no major craquelure or paint loss visible. Minor surface dirt is present, consistent with age. The frame shows light wear and minor scuffing to the edges. The backing paper on the reverse is torn.
