An oil on canvas panel landscape painting by the artist M. Kowalczykowski. The composition features a rutted dirt track receding into the distance towards a dark evergreen forest, bordered by leafless silver birch trees and shallow puddles reflecting the light of an overcast sky. The work is executed in a textured style with notable impasto, particularly within the highlights of the birch bark and the cloud formations. The painting is signed M. Kowalczykowski in the lower right corner. The reverse of the panel displays a manufacturer label for an Academy Canvas Panel by M. Grumbacher, New York and Toronto, which includes a handwritten inscription in the artist field. The painting is housed in a multi-tiered wooden frame with a light wash finish and a gilded inner slip. No visible signs of paint loss or restoration are apparent.
