Herend Apponyi Purple Porcelain Urn & Cover

Large porcelain pedestal urn with a domed lid manufactured by Herend Hungary. This hand-painted vessel features the Apponyi Purple pattern, also referred to as Chinese Bouquet Raspberry. The decoration is executed in monochrome magenta andincludes a central floral arrangement surrounded by scattered sprigs and a serrated leaf border. The ovoid form is fitted with two large C-scroll handles featuring molded acanthus leaf terminals and gold gilding. The lid has a tieredfinial with gold accents. The pedestal foot is circular with gold banding. The underside shows a blue underglaze Herend Hungary factory mark, the script text HANDPAINTED, and the shape and pattern number 6660/AP. Other markings include ared 27 and a blue X. A small circular firing hole is located in the center of the base. 15 inches tall by 9 inches wide.This covered vessel remains in excellent condition with minor expected wear consistent with its age.
