Karges Furniture Company Hepplewhite-style armchair featuring a light yellow painted finish with hand-painted polychrome floral sprigs, blue ribbons, and green vine borders. The shield-shaped openwork backrest is carved with a Prince ofWales plume motif gathered by a central bow. The chair is constructed with out-swept arms and square tapering legs joined by H-stretchers. The seat is upholstered in a white satin-finish fabric with silver-toned nailhead trim in adecorative scalloped pattern. A decorative braided cord with tassels is draped across the arms. Marked with a metal plate reading Karges Furniture Co. Evansville, IN Serial #, a brass letter K, and an embroidered fabric label from theKarges Furniture Company of Evansville, Indiana. Height: 42 inches Width: 18 inches Depth: 18 inches.This armchair is in excellent condition and shows mostly expected wear due to its age and use. Upholstery is clean and structural integrity is sound.
