NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > Vintage hand painted porcelain figural whiskey decanter produced by McCormick Distilling Company for the United States Bicentennial era, depicting General George Washington standing beside a seated Continental Army soldier and campfire, likely representing the winter encampment at Valley Forge. Washington is modeled in a blue military coat with brass tone buttons, cream waistcoat and breeches, tall black boots, sword and a dramatic blue cape lined in red. The removable head and tricorne hat form the decanter stopper. The accompanying soldier is wrapped in a grey cloak beside the molded fire, emphasizing the hardship endured by the Continental Army during the winter of 1777 to 1778. The molded rectangular base carries an applied GEORGE WASHINGTON name panel to the front. The original rear label reads McCORMICK STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY ~ 86 PROOF ~ LIMITED EDITION ~ 4/5 QUART ~ DISTILLED & BOTTLED BY McCORMICK DISTILLING CO. ~ WESTON, MO. McCormick issued numerous figural collector decanters from the late 1960s through the 1980s, including a patriotic Bicentennial series honoring notable figures and subjects from early American history. Documented examples identify this George Washington model as part of the company’s circa 1976 Bicentennial or Patriots series. CONDITION REPORT > The removable head is present; however, the cork remains lodged within the neck and has separated from the stopper.
