AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Ornate Chinoiserie and Rococo Revival style mirrored wall candle sconce measuring 22" tall × 7" wide and extending approximately 5" from the wall to the outer edge of the candle cup bobèches. The narrow rectangular beveled mirror is surrounded by an elaborate openwork metal frame finished in an aged brass tone. Pierced scrolling foliage, flowers, fruit and architectural ornament extend along the sides, with a prominent crest presenting two opposing dragons flanking a classical urn or covered censer beneath a pointed finial. The paired dragons and Asian inspired vessel introduce a strong Chinese decorative influence, while the curling acanthus forms, pierced scrollwork and symmetrical arrangement reflect European Rococo Revival design. A pair of projecting candle arms rises from the lower frame, each terminating in a pierced circular bobèche and cylindrical socket for a taper candle. Broad opposing scrolls and a pendant foliate flourish form the lower apron, balancing the elaborate dragon crest above. The beveled mirror was intended to reflect and multiply candlelight, combining the functions of a wall mirror, candle sconce and architectural ornament. The reverse retains the metal backing plate and suspension ring for wall display.
