20 Pieces INDIANA JUNO DOUBLE PINWHEEL EAPG GLASS

AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Despite two piecces suffering from damage, this is a striking, extensive 20-piece antique pressed-glass table service produced by Indiana Glass Company of Dunkirk, Indiana, in the JUNO pattern, introduced circa 1905 and better known among EAPG collectors as DOUBLE PINWHEEL or STAR WHORL. The assembled service includes a water pitcher, six tumblers, covered sugar bowl, creamer, open spooner, large serving bowl, six individual berry or sauce bowls, oval relish dish, toothpick holder and covered butter dish. The clear colorless glass is richly molded in an imitation cut-glass design of whirling pinwheels, radiating starbursts, crosshatched diamonds, fans and deeply defined geometric panels. Sawtooth and scalloped edges enliven the serving forms, while the pitcher, sugar, creamer and butter dish carry the same elaborate pattern across their bodies and covers. JUNO was produced as a broad tableware line, allowing buyers to assemble coordinated beverage, dessert and serving services from individual forms. Indiana Glass operated the former Beatty-Brady and National Glass works at Dunkirk beginning in 1904, and JUNO became one of the company’s early pressed patterns. Each piece is further accented with period gold decoration applied along rims, upper borders, finials and selected molded details. Gold-decorated JUNO examples are documented, including gold-flashed tumblers and gilded sugar forms, although presently available references do not establish whether every such service was decorated directly by Indiana Glass or supplied to an outside decorating company. The consistent placement and matching appearance throughout this group indicate that the pieces were decorated as a coordinated service rather than assembled from unrelated examples. CONDITION REPORT > The relish dish and creamer suffer from internal fractures. Otherwise, presents as an unusually extensive and well-coordinated antique service. The gold decoration exhibits scattered rubbing and loss consistent with age and use. Anticipate typical and minor elements relative to age, material and early method of production.
