JEANNETTE SHELL PINK MILK GLASS Footed COMPOTE

AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Standing 5.5" tall, with the bowl measuring 6" in diameter at the rim, this vintage Jeannette Glass Company footed bowl is rendered in opaque Shell Pink milk glass. Produced in Jeannette’s Windsor pattern, the compote features a shallow round bowl bordered by a continuous beaded rim. Repeating angular diamond and geometric motifs decorate the exterior, continuing through the faceted pedestal stem and across the broad circular foot. Raised beading around the foot repeats the treatment of the upper rim and completes the coordinated pressed glass design. Jeannette Glass Company was incorporated in Jeannette, Pennsylvania in 1898 and became a major American producer of machine made tableware. Particularly associated with colorful Depression era glass, the company later expanded into milk glass and decorative household wares. Its soft Shell Pink glass was among the distinctive opaque colors produced during the postwar period. Jeannette remained in operation until 1983. The elevated form was intended for serving candy, nuts, fruit or small desserts and also presents attractively as a display example within a vintage milk glass collection.
