1960s CRUISER BICYCLE ~ RARE RACK and PERMACO Seat

NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > A vintage red single-speed middleweight cruiser bicycle measuring 68" long with 21" diameter wheels and an adjustable saddle currently standing 28" from the ground. Both tires are flat. The missing head badge prevents confirmation of the original retail brand or exact model. The bicycle has a twin-cantilever frame with two arched upper tubes extending toward the rear axle, swept-back handlebars, white grips, full metal fenders, an enclosed chainguard and a separate rear luggage carrier with a slatted platform. The drivetrain includes a single front chainring, coaster-style rear hub, rubber-block pedals and a kickstand mounted beneath the frame. The white padded saddle is marked ~ PERMACO ~ 3233 ~ and is supported by rear coil springs. The burgundy-red finish is accented by white linear graphics and a stylized starburst emblem on the head tube and frame. The frame configuration, full fenders, whitewall tires, spring saddle and rear carrier are characteristic of American middleweight cruiser bicycles produced during the 1960s. The bicycle appears consistent with a Murray-built middleweight cruiser and resembles examples marketed through retailers under names such as Sears Flightliner and Western Flyer. However, the Permaco saddle was a separately manufactured component that may have been supplied to more than one bicycle company or replaced during the bicycle’s service life. The saddle marking and frame form support a possible Murray attribution, but do not conclusively establish the original manufacturer or retail model. CONDITION REPORT > Both tires are flat ~ Extensive oxidation is noted across the handlebars, fenders, wheels, spokes, chainguard, drivetrain and other exposed metal components. The painted frame exhibits scratches, fading, finish loss and surface wear. The saddle and grips show discoloration and wear consistent with age. The bicycle has not been mechanically tested, and the operating condition of the coaster brake, bearings, chain and other components is unknown. Offered as found for restoration, display or parts.
