NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > Well suited for restoration, or useful as parts, a vintage Murray brand children’s tricycle, likely dating from the 1960s into the 1970s, with a blue painted metal frame, molded blue saddle, front fender, spoked wheels, solid rubber tires, direct drive pedals, and a distinctive two level rear step deck. The red and white shield decal surrounding the steering column bears the MURRAY name. The rear platform features raised traction ribs, recessed hand openings, and separate upper and lower standing levels. Murray introduced the recognizable two step tricycle configuration around 1960, making this form closely associated with the company’s mid century riding toys. This example retains the original seat, front fender, wheels, pedals, rear step deck, frame, and much of the blue painted finish. The handlebars and grips are missing. Original used components and reproduction parts are routinely offered through online collector markets and specialty toy restoration suppliers, making the tricycle a suitable candidate for restoration. The Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company was founded in Cleveland in 1919, initially producing automobile components including fenders and fuel tanks. Murray entered the children’s riding toy market during the 1920s and began manufacturing bicycles during the 1930s, eventually becoming one of the largest American producers of affordable bicycles, pedal cars, tricycles, and lawn equipment. The company’s postwar riding toys became familiar fixtures in American households, with Murray products widely distributed through major department and retail stores. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered, with accumulated surface dust, oxidation, fading, scratches, paint loss, and wear from age and storage. The handlebars and grips are absent. Mechanical operation and structural integrity have not been tested. Offered for restoration, replacement parts, nostalgic display, garden decoration, photography staging, or creative upcycling rather than immediate use as a child’s riding toy.
