AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A vintage Finnish J. Marttiini fishing and fillet knife measuring 10.5" long overall, with a " hand-ground stainless blade, fitted to a smoothly shaped natural wood handle bearing the burned Rapala fish logo and a metal ferrule joining the handle to the narrow, upswept blade. The flexible stainless steel blade is engraved J. MARTTIINI ROVANIEMI FINLAND and HAND GROUND STAINLESS STEEL, identifying production by the respected Finnish knife maker founded by Janne Marttiini in Rovaniemi. Marttiini became particularly associated with practical fishing knives, while Rapala marketed Marttiini-made fillet knives alongside its internationally recognized fishing tackle. The slender curved blade was designed for controlled filleting and separating flesh from bone, while the rounded wood handle incorporates a pronounced hooked end for a secure grip during fishing and food-preparation use. The combination of Finnish manufacture, hand-ground blade and early wood-handled Rapala presentation gives the knife appeal among collectors of fishing equipment, Scandinavian cutlery and traditional sporting knives. CONDITION REPORT > Expect blade scratches, darkening, spotting, sharpening marks, wear to the wood handle and other elements relative to age, materials and use.
