AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A vintage Mid-Century New Orleans souvenir letter opener formed as a fully armored medieval knight, standing 9.5" tall upon a black pedestal base measuring approximately 3.75" x 2.75". The molded plastic figure is finished in an antiqued silver tone with densely patterned plate armor, articulated-style detailing, helmet, gauntlets and fitted scabbard. A removable cast metal letter opener is carried at the front in the manner of a sword, with the curved guard relief lettered NEW ORLEANS. The black display base retains the applied identification plaque reading ARMOURED KNIGHT. Combining a dramatic medieval figure with a practical desk accessory, the piece reflects the novelty souvenir culture associated with New Orleans gift shops during the mid-20th century.
