AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A Wings of Texaco Lockheed Sirius 8A diecast metal airplane bank, issued as the 18th model in the collectible series and presented within the original illustrated box. Manufactured by Ertl in 2010 under stock number CP5907, the 1:32 scale model measures approximately 9" long across the fuselage, 12" across the wings and 3" tall, with the original display stand included. The authentically scaled replica depicts Texaco 16, registration NC16W, in a striking red and cream paint scheme with TEXACO 16 lettering, winged star emblems, streamlined wheel coverings and a rotating propeller. The model also functions as a coin bank, combining aviation detail with Texaco advertising and service station collectible appeal. The original Lockheed Sirius was a single engine monoplane developed by Lockheed engineers Jack Northrop and Gerard Vultee near the close of the 1920s. The aircraft represented by this model was serial number 146, manufactured March 13, 1930, and later operated by the Texas Company under registration NC16W. According to the historical account printed across the box, Texaco acquired the airplane in 1932 and applied the Texaco 16 graphics during the following year. The aircraft later passed through several owners before transfer to Cuba, where the plane reportedly remained in service until destruction during a Havana hangar fire around 1945. The Wings of Texaco series celebrates aircraft connected with Texaco corporate and aviation history through detailed diecast replicas designed for adult collectors. This Lockheed Sirius release provides strong crossover appeal for aviation enthusiasts, Texaco advertising collectors, coin bank collections and vintage transportation displays.
