NICKEL SILVER ART DECO MARTINI BAR COCKTAIL SHAKER

AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > See condition report below relative to this vintage 12-inch-tall EPNS cocktail shaker or mixer pitcher, formed with a tall tapered body, flared pedestal base, angular pouring spout and high scrolling side handle. The fitted domed lid has a molded, fluted finial and retains its broad cork sealing collar. The body is divided by a narrow raised horizontal band, creating a streamlined architectural profile associated with early-to-mid-20th-century Art Deco barware. The underside is stamped EPNS above the production or model number 373. EPNS denotes electroplated nickel silver, a base-metal alloy coated with a thin layer of silver rather than an item made of solid sterling silver. The four individual cartouches contain the letters EPNS and imitate the arrangement of traditional British silver hallmarks, but they do not constitute sterling hallmarks or identify a confirmed manufacturer. Tall pitcher-form cocktail shakers of this type were designed to combine a mixing vessel, covered shaker and pouring pitcher in one substantial serving form. The cork-lined lid provided a close seal during mixing, while the spout and elongated handle allowed the prepared drink to be poured directly into serving glasses. Its pronounced pedestal, curved handle, darkened silverplate surface and sculptural finial give the vessel strong vintage barware, Art Deco and speakeasy-era decorative appeal CONDITION REPORT > The separate stopper or plug originally fitted to the pouring spout is not present, and the handle is detached from its upper body connection while remaining attached at the lower mounting point ~ Some chipping to cork below the lid ~ Overall surface tarnish, not appearing intrusive.
