AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > 5.25-inch-tall King’s Crown ruby-flashed pressed-glass pedestal compote measuring 5 inches in diameter across the flared upper rim. The bowl has a broad ruby-flashed upper band above large oval concave thumbprints, with sharply defined zigzag or diamond-point borders and additional molded concave button decoration. The ornate clear pressed-glass pedestal incorporates scrolling details, a bulbous knop, faceted ornament and a broad circular foot. The form matches the recognized King’s Crown pattern, also commonly called Thumbprint. Closely matching examples are cataloged as King’s Crown Ruby Flash Thumbprint compotes and are commonly associated with Tiffin production and later Indiana Glass manufacture. The ruby treatment is a surface-applied flash or stain over clear glass rather than solid ruby-colored glass, creating the distinctive two-color contrast while allowing the pressed design to remain visible. Designed for serving candy, nuts, desserts or other small refreshments, this compote combines one of the best-known American pressed-glass patterns with traditional ruby-flash decoration and an elaborate pedestal form.
