PULLMAN RAILROAD TRAIN SLEEPING CAR COAT HANGER

AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Wooden Pullman sleeping-car advertising clothes hanger with shaped shoulder arms, a lower trouser bar and a blackened metal suspension hook. The face is lettered PULLMAN across the crown, with TRAVEL AND SLEEP IN along the left arm and SAFETY AND COMFORT along the right. The lettering is recessed into the wood and filled with black paint, rather than merely surface printed. The Pullman Company became closely associated with American railroad sleeping-car travel and promoted its accommodations as a combination of overnight comfort, safety and dependable service. This hanger was likely intended for use within a Pullman sleeping-car compartment or as related railroad promotional equipment, combining a functional wardrobe accessory with period Pullman advertising. The warm finished wood, railway slogan, painted recessed lettering and purpose-built form give the hanger strong appeal for collectors of Pullman Company memorabilia, railroadiana, sleeping-car furnishings and vintage transportation advertising.
