AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A nicely preserved, reasonably clean example, measuring approximately 38 x 30 overall, a vintage natural white sheepskin or lambskin rug or furniture throw with dense, long wool fleece and the original hide retained to the reverse. The underside carries the bold TASMAN SUPER SIZE star mark, identifying the rug as a larger-format example marketed under the Tasman name. The organic pelt outline and deep wool pile make the rug suitable for use beside a bed, across a chair or bench, as a nursery accent or as a rustic floor covering. Comparable surviving examples are consistently marketed as Tasman New Zealand woolskin or lambskin rugs, including examples retaining Tasman labels and described as genuine New Zealand sheepskin. The SUPER SIZE designation refers to the dimensions. The Tasman name has long been associated with Australasian sheep amd lamb hide, leather and woolskin production. A New Zealand Tasman leather business traces company origins to a family operation established in 1953 along the Whanganui River, although the available records do not conclusively establish that this particular stamped rug came from that exact corporate entity. The mark and closely matching marketplace examples do, however, support identification as a vintage Tasman-branded natural sheepskin rug rather than a synthetic imitation. Natural sheepskin rugs became widely used during the mid-to-late 20th century for warmth, seating comfort and decorative texture. The substantial dimensions, authentic hide backing, long wool fleece and surviving TASMAN SUPER SIZE mark give this example appeal as vintage New Zealand woolskin, farmhouse décor, cabin furnishing, bohemian textile and natural fiber home décor.
