A lot of two Japanese katabori netsuke, likely Meiji period (1868-1912). The first is a recumbent beast, possibly a baku or ox, with a rope harness and stained details. The second is a stylized bird with its head turned back over its carved feathers, bearing a signature to the underside. Both pieces are carved from an organic material and feature himotoshi for cord attachment.

Japanese Netsuke Meiji Edo Katabori Baku Ox Bird Quail Ivory Signed

Dust Factory Auctions offers antique and vintage items that proudly display the natural signs of their age and previous use.
