A lot of two carved objects, likely of Japanese origin, circa the Meiji period (1868-1912). The first is a netsuke in the form of a duck carrying a monkey and another small animal, featuring incised details highlighted with ink and a two-character signature to the underside. The second piece is a cylindrical lidded container, possibly a cricket cage, with a pierced floral top and scrimshaw-style ink decoration of mice on the body. Both items are rendered in carved bone or a similar organic material and measure approximately two inches.

Netsuke Okimono Meiji Bone Scrimshaw Cricket Cage Japan Asian Art

Dust Factory Auctions offers antique and vintage items that proudly display the natural signs of their age and previous use.
