A lot of two Japanese netsuke, likely Meiji period (19th century). The first is a katabori (figural) netsuke depicting a family of rats with inlaid eyes, signed on the underside. The second is a recumbent ox with a rope harness and inlaid eyes, in a style associated with Kyoto school carvers, also signed on the underside in a rectangular reserve. Both are carved from a material exhibiting characteristics of bone and feature drilled himotoshi.

Japanese Meiji Period Netsuke Katabori Ivory Bone Signed Okimono Sagemono Zodiac Rat Ox Animal Figurine Kyoto School

Dust Factory Auctions offers antique and vintage items that proudly display the natural signs of their age and previous use.
