Dating to the World War II era, this German M35 map case (Meldetasche 35) is constructed of heavy black leather with contrasting beige perimeter stitching. The fold-over main flap features protective side ear flaps and secures via a vertical leather strap and metal roller buckle. Stitched to the reverse face are dual wide leather belt loops fitted with integrated steel D-rings for combat Y-strap attachment. Opening the case reveals an unlined interior complete with a central document divider and two pencil loops mounted along the inner side wall; no maker marks, acceptance stamps, or dates are visible. Exhibiting honest period field character, the leather shows surface scuffing, edge abrasions, light color loss, and localized superficial crackling throughout. The stitching remains intact across all primary seams, and all metal components demonstrate dark oxidation while remaining structurally secure. Dimensions: 7.5 x 8.5 x 2.5 inches. Representing standard-issue tactical field gear used across all major branches of the German military, this classic M35 map case serves as an essential completing piece for WWII militaria and mannequin displays.
