This is an original pre-WWII German professional fire brigade (Feuerwehr) belt and buckle set. The two-piece buckle features a nickel-silver plated box with a centrally applied brass medallion. The medallion displays the traditional fire service insignia—a stylized helmet over crossed fire axes—surrounded by the motto "GOTT ZUR EHR • DEM NÄCHSTEN ZUR WEHR" (To God the Honor, To the Neighbor the Defense). The reverse shows a typical private-purchase construction with a brass wire catch. It is paired with a heavy-duty blackened leather belt featuring a brass hook-and-eye catch. The leather exhibits significant age-related crazing and a partially legible ink stamp on the raw interior side, consistent with official service issue from the 1920s or 1930s. PM
