This is a matching pair of WWII German military musician's shoulder dress epaulettes (Schwalbennester / swallow's nests) measuring approximately 9" x 4" each. Constructed on a light grey/tan fabric foundation, the pair features vertically applied metallic braid stripes set across a patterned field, accented by a decorative geometric braided lower border. Attached along the bottom curved edge is an extensive hanging metallic bullion fringe, denoting a drum major or bandleader (Musikmeister) rank/status for dress uniform wear. The reverse sides are finished with a grey cotton-linen lining and retain a full array of original sewn brass mounting hooks designed to secure the pieces to uniform shoulder seams. The pair shows authentic period age patina, surface toning, and handling wear while remaining structurally complete. PM
