This East German Ministry of the Interior (Ministerium des Innern / MdI) visor cap (Schirmmütze) was worn by officers/NCOs of the Transport Police (Transportpolizei / "TraPo"). Constructed from dark navy blue wool cloth, it features distinct magenta/wine-red piping (Passpoilierung) around the crown and band, a blue braided chinstrap secured by pebbled silver buttons, and an aluminum oak-leaf wreath cockade enclosing the East German state emblem. The interior lining is stamped under a clear sweat diamond with "MdI 58" alongside factory code 1855, quality mark TGL 108-754 583, and date code letter U indicating production in 1978. The cap is in excellent vintage condition with sharp piping, clean wool, and crisp interior markings. PM
