A postwar West German (Federal Republic of Germany / Bundesrepublik Deutschland) municipal Fire Service (Feuerwehr) enlisted or NCO visor cap dating approximately 1955–1980. Constructed of dark navy-blue wool with bright red branch piping and a black velvet center band, the cap is fitted with a black leather chinstrap secured by brass-tone side buttons and a black molded visor with textured gray underside. The front retains its original Federal Republic black-red-gold national cockade. The interior features a light-colored cloth lining with a gray vinyl sweatband. The original clear plastic maker's sweatshield is absent, leaving the circular backing visible. No maker or size markings remain. The cap retains an attractive display appearance with strong color, good structural form, and only light service wear to the exterior. Interior wear is consistent with age and use, including the missing sweatshield and minor age-related wear to the lining and sweatband. Overall, a desirable Cold War-era West German Feuerwehr visor cap representing the municipal fire services of the Federal Republic of Germany. GE
