WWII German Deutsches Rotes Kreuz, or German Red Cross, enlisted personnel overseas cap constructed from charcoal-gray wool with fold-down side and rear panels and a black twill lining. The front bears a black, white and red national cockade beneath light-gray soutache arranged in an inverted V. The wearer’s left side displays a woven oval DRK insignia featuring a black eagle with swastika above a red cross on a pale gray-white field. A black metal ventilation grommet is positioned on each side, and the interior lining is marked in white with size 56. The cap body and insignia display age and handling wear, including surface linting, scattered edge wear, fraying, loose threads and partial seam separation along the lower interior brim. The insignia and soutache may have been resewn or reapplied at an undetermined time. GE
