Early German Feuerwehr fire brigade service tunic dating from the late Imperial to early Weimar period, circa 1900–1920s. Constructed of heavy black or very dark navy wool with contrasting red piping around the standing collar, double-breasted front, shoulder straps, and cuffs. Features five pairs of brass-tone front buttons, red-piped shoulder straps, two lower inset pockets with flaps, and a rear center vent. Interior has dark ribbed body lining and light patterned twill sleeve lining. Buttons have older two-piece brass construction with loop shanks. This municipal or volunteer fire-service uniform follows the traditional German Feuerwehr dress pattern and is not an Imperial German Army artillery tunic. Exact city and regional affiliation are unknown. Displays scattered lint, surface wear, lining discoloration, loose threads, and age-related wear around the collar and interior seams. GE
