This unissued dark navy blue wool-gabardine service tunic was produced for the East German Ministry of the Interior (Ministerium des Innern / MdI) during the Cold War era. Constructed in a four-pocket pattern with scalloped flaps, silver pebbled buttons, pointed French cuffs, and an open lapel design, this dark blue tunic style was standard issue for internal security branches including the Transport Police (Transportpolizei), Fire/Civil Defense (Feuerwehr/Zivilschutz), and Correctional Service (Strafvollzug). The tunic remains in deadstock, unissued factory condition with its original paper inspection ticket (Papieranhänger) still pinned to the back shoulder. The tag features the TKO geprüft / Döhler stamp—confirming inspection by the East German state quality department (Technische Kontrollorganisation)—along with the size designation M 48-1 (Mittelgroß / chest size 48, slim fit) and internal factory batch tally numbers. Because it is in mint, unissued condition, the tunic was never badged with collar tabs or shoulder boards, though shoulder seam bridles remain intact to accept slip-on insignia. The garment exhibits minimal surface lint from storage while retaining its crisp factory shape. A fantastic, pristine artifact of Cold War East German uniform production. GE
