Browning Superposed Over/Under Shotgun — 12 Gauge, Belgian-Made, 30" Manufacturer: 1953 - Browning Arms Company, St. Louis, Missouri (importer mark) — barrels marked "Made in Belgium" Model: Superposed (boxlock over/under) Gauge/Chamber: 12 gauge, 2¾" shells, "Special Steel" barrels Action: Over/under double barrel with vent rib, single trigger, top lever break-open action Serial Number: Visible on frame This is a classic Browning Superposed over/under shotgun, manufactured in Belgium and imported through Browning Arms Company's St. Louis, Missouri distribution. The Superposed is one of the most respected over/under shotgun designs of the 20th century, originally engineered by John M. Browning and produced by Fabrique Nationale (FN) in Herstal, Belgium. You will be hard pressed to find another shotgun of the same year in this near-perfect condition. Receiver/Action: The frame retains a bright silver-gray finish with fine scroll and floral engraving surrounding oval game-scene-style panels on both sides of the receiver, along with decorative rosette-pattern screw heads. The top of the receiver and barrel breech carry the Browning name and logo medallion in an engraved cartouche. The bores and chambers show clean, bright rifling-free barrel interiors typical of a shotgun in good mechanical condition. Barrels: Vented rib, blued finish, with visible manufacturer markings ("Browning Arms Company — St. Louis, Missouri" and "Special Steel — 12 Ga. — Shells 2¾"") and Belgian proof/patent markings on the underside of the barrel near the breech. Stock & Forearm: Checkered walnut stock with a pistol-grip design and matching checkered walnut forearm featuring diamond-point borders. The wood displays warm, attractive grain figure with light handling marks/finish wear consistent with a used firearm of this vintage (see photos for exact condition — some finish thinning and minor surface dings are visible on the stock and forearm). Trigger/Furniture: Single trigger group, blued trigger guard, and a "BROWNING" marked black grip cap/buttplate. Condition Notes Overall the shotgun presents as a highly maintained example of the Superposed line, showing minimal handling wear on the wood and finish.
