This antique Bahr & Proschild mold 585 character baby doll depicts a highly expressive, realistic infant with hand-painted facial features, multi-stroked feathered eyebrows, and an open mouth showing two molded upper teeth. The delicate bisque head is marked "B & P 585 4 Germany" and fitted with dark glass sleep eyes that are now fixed; it is missing its original mohair wig and bonnet but has been replaced. The doll is presented in a floral print dress with knit booties, and features a five-pie composition bent-limb baby body with individually molded fingers and toes, designed to mimic a seated infant. Notable condition issues include a prominent, jagged hairline crack extending across the front base of the neck socket where the bisque head joins the torso, along with typical minor surface wear, scuffing, and localized discoloration on the head and limbs consistent with age. **Shipping Notice: Due to the delicate nature of the doll's sleep eye mechanism, any shipped doll will arrive with the wig and skull cap removed, and the eyes secured to help minimize the risk of damage during transit.
